Include a resume with date of birth, cover letter, full-length photograph, and a high quality un-edited VIDEO file(s), not more than six-months old, to include the following:

  • Repertoire of the candidate’s choice, not to exceed three minutes (Bb and/or C trumpet only) i.e. solos, excerpts, or etudes demonstrating the candidate’s range, lyrical, and technical abilities
  • Marcel Bitsch Vingt Études, “Étude #1” (Bb trumpet only)
  • “Hellcats,” “Taps,” and “Reveille” (Music provided below)

Your resume should include: Education; performance/work/teaching experience (to include marching); other marketable musical skills.

Your cover letter should augment your resume, describing what additional skills you bring to the position beyond the trumpet. This might include skills in arranging, audio mixing/engineering, other instrument/vocal proficiencies, computer skills (graphics/video editing/Microsoft Office/other), etc.

Primary Duties of this Position

Performing bugle calls, meal formations, parades, funerals, and public concerts in the USMA Band’s Field Music Group. Please visit the West Point Band website for a full job description.  The hired candidate will be required to march in ceremonial formation and/or stand for 60 minutes while carrying 35lbs of equipment 2 or more miles.

The Hellcats are the premier Field Music Group in the U.S. Army, comprised of six buglers, three piccolo players, and five rudimental drummers.
